In 2013 The Home Fires wanted to mark the completion of their debut album, ‘This Too Shall Pass’ with a special album release gig. The band sold tickets to their friends and fans and staged a private party at Halfpenny Field in Wiltshire.
Synchronicity worked in favour of the band as, at the same time, a timber framed round house tent had just been hand-made in the village of Slaughterford, just a few miles away. The owner was looking for a showcase opportunity to release his new tent and the band were looking for an unusual venue from which to release their album. Everything worked out perfectly.
Halfpenny Field is a 5 acre field owned by Escapade Events with ancient oak tree based in the centre of the meadow. This event took place during an evening in October. The oak tree was lit with tree lights and food was cooked and served by friends of the band. A cash bar was organised and the tent was decorated with lanterns. Sound and lighting equipment and technicians worked to ensure the band sounded and looked good as they performed their album live for the first time.
Music support was provided by Ami Kaelyn before The Home Fires performed their debut album in its entirety. The line-up included upright piano, guitars, bass, flute, cello and harmonies.
